Swedish megacar manufacturer Koenigsegg has recently announced a plan to build a new factory to help ramp up the production of the Gemera hypercar and create space for future growth. As well as state of the art production line, the new Gemera factory will contain a customer lounge, offices, event, showroom and retail spaces.

The new factory will connect to Koenigsegg’s existing office building and its four production and assembly lines that were converted from former air-force hangars. The operation will continue to be based at the legendary Valhall park – former home to the Swedish F10 Air Force Ghost Squadron that Koenigsegg famously honours with the Ghost badges that can be found on all production vehicles that leave the factory.

The new Gemera factory will be built in a classic accordion-like layout inspired by old Swedish factories, therefore maximising space and daylight. The factory will also feature a brand new customer lounge where customers will be able to create their perfect Koenigsegg. The brand stated that the factory will also have a cinematic event space that will be used for events and car unveilings.

One of the most exciting parts of the upcoming Gemera factory expansion is the plan to add an on-site track where Koenigsegg will conduct pre-delivery testing and vehicle prototyping. Until then, Koenigsegg will continue to test their vehicles on the former military runway that the company currently controls.

“Looking back at where we started 27 years ago, it’s incredible to think of the journey we have been on. Our expansion is a mark of our past and future relevance where we are geared towards delivering bleeding-edge mobility tech and our handcrafted ultimate performance automobiles.”, stated Koenigsegg CEO and Founder Christian von Koenigsegg.

The company will also be building a visitor experience centre inside Valhall park that will feature cars from the company’s current lineup as well as more historic examples for fans and visitors to admire.
