Aston Martin has recently revealed the new Aston Martin DBR22. The new Speedster from Aston was shown to the public at the 2022 Monterey Car Week in California. The car combines the classic British sports car pedigree with the best modern-day technology from Aston Martin to create a match made in heaven.

The DBR22 pays homage to the Aston Martin models DBR1 and DB3S from the 1950s and their classic coach-building roots by using a coach-built body and using significantly less carbon fibre than modern-day Astons.

While the design may be sticking to the classics, the mechanical side of DBR22 is far from outdated. This modern take on a classic is powered by a mighty 5.2-litre V12 engine capable of producing an incredible 705bhp and over 750Nm of torque. The car also features an eight-speed automatic gearbox and is capable of hitting 60mph in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 198.

One might believe that the interior of a car like this will lack some of the bells and whistles that Aston is known for, but this is far from the truth. The DBR22 features the all-new dashboard architecture from Aston Martin featuring a central touchscreen display with vertical air vents on each side. There is also a plethora of leather and carbon fibre throughout.

Aston Martin DBR22 is also the first Aston Martin that will feature 3D printed parts. The company have used 3D printing to create subframe components from aluminium which are then bonded together to save weight, while also ensuring that there is no loss to the stiffness of the body.

“Technology is pivotal in the construction of DBR22, with extensive use of carbon fibre throughout, and the use of 3D printing for the manufacture of a structural component”
