MAT ARMSTRONG IS ONE OF THE UK’S QUICKEST-GROWING CAR YOUTUBERS WITH A CAR COLLECTION THAT BRINGS A WHOLE NEW MEANING TO THE SAYING ”BUILT NOT BOUGHT”, BUT WHAT CARS DOES HE ACTUALLY HAVE IN HIS GARAGE? KEEP READING TO FIND OUT!
Mat Armstrong’s car collection is undoubtedly one of the most unique amongst UK automotive YouTubers. Based in Leicester, England, Mat quickly gained popularity thanks to his unique style of videos in which he purchases crashed high-end vehicles and then takes his viewers on a journey to rebuild and modify them.
Mat is currently rebuilding a 2019 Aston Martin Vantage that has been in a front-end collision and was deemed too expensive to repair by the insurance company. He also makes vlog-style videos documenting his supercar adventures such as driving his E46 M3 to the Nürburgring and driving his Twin-Turbo Lamborghini across Europe.
Below is a list of all vehicles that Mat currently owns:
2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
MSRP: from £147,000 ($175,000)
The first vehicle in Mat’s supercar garage is his insane Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Mat bought the vehicle last year and quickly turned it into an absolute monster. The Gallardo has been fitted with a Push Performance Twin-Turbo Kit tuned by Re Performance putting out a monstrous 850bhp, which is considerably more than the stock 552bhp that the car left the factory with.
When it comes to visual mods, the Gallardo has been fitted with an air suspension system and a half and half Satin Arctic Camo Wrap with Gloss Orange stripe. The car was also fitted with a roof box, making it slightly more practical for European road trips that Mat often embarks on, including driving his Lamborghini to the capital of the European supercar scene – Monaco.
2019 Aston Martin Vantage
MSRP: from £127,000 ($152,000)
The next vehicle in Mat Armstrong’s car collection is his gorgeous 2019 Aston Martin Vantage which he is currently in the process of restoring on his YouTube channel. Mat has told the Faster Living team that he bought the vehicle for just £54,000 ($64,000) which at the time was the cheapest 2019 Vantage sold in the UK.
Those familiar with Mat’s videos will know that the Vantage has been one of the most challenging rebuilds on his YouTube channel due to the complexity of this British supercar and the availability of OEM parts he had to acquire. Throughout the build, Mat has also fitted a range of aftermarket parts including carbon fibre bonnet vents from an ex-Aston Martin GT3 car, making this a very unique build.
2012 Audi RS5
MSRP: from £59,000 ($70,000)
Another car that Mat has rebuilt himself is his 2012 Audi RS5 that he purchased for his girlfriend last year. Just like the Vantage, the Audi had also been in a front-end collision, but Mat quickly transformed the car into a true head-turner by wrapping it in Inozetek Khaki Green and fitting it with 20” Japan Racing alloy wheels.
The car has also been fitted with a Milltek cat-back exhaust system making an already loud Audi RS5 V8 sound even more aggressive. The RS5 has also been fitted with additional body parts to make it stand out even more, as well as suspension upgrades to create the perfect fitment for the wheels.
2007 Maserati GranTurismo
MSRP: from £82,000 ($97,000)
One of the most extensively modified cars in Mat Armstrong’s car collection is his 2007 Maserati GranTurismo which Mat fitted with a full Liberty Walk body kit paired with Airex air suspension creating a unique look for the Italian Grand Tourer.
The GranTurismo has long been one of the best-sounding cars around, thanks to the F136 V8 engine, which was produced as a joint project between Ferrari and Maserati and can be found in cars such as the Ferrari 430, Ferrari 458, and even the Alfa Romeo 8C. However, the stock exhaust note was not enough for Mat, who had the car fitted with a custom-made, straight-piped exhaust system.
Probably the most unique modification of the GranTurismo is the custom-made alloy wheels that Mat designed together with Projex Design with a whopping -81mm offset. Overall, the car is an absolute showstopper and will no doubt be appreciated for its craftsmanship everywhere it goes.
2002 BMW M3
MSRP: from £40,000 ($48,000)
A car with one of the more unique stories that Mat owns is his gorgeous 2002 BMW (E46) M3 finished in Laguna Seca Blue. Mat discovered the vehicle as a non-runner left in disrepair near a race track by a track day experience provider. He then made an offer to the owner with hopes of bringing it back to life.
Since buying the vehicle, Mat not only brought it back to its former glory but also fitted a plethora of performance upgrades including a Scorpion Cat-back exhaust system and a front brake upgrade from a C63 Mercedes.
In one of his videos, Mat even took his M3 to ex-Top Gear presenters Richard Hammond’s workshop to get Hammond’s own seal of approval which would be a surreal experience for any petrolhead.
2012 Toyota GT86
MSRP: from £25,000 ($30,000)
Purchased for just £4,000 ($4,700), this 2012 Toyota GT86 is probable the cheapest car in Mat Armstrong’s car collection. However, Mat has turned this Japanese sports car into a true drift monster since buying the crash-damaged car from a Copart auction last year.
The car currently sports a full Rocket Bunny wide body kit and is sitting on Japan Racing alloys which give the car a very aggressive look. Mat also fitted the car with budget aftermarket exhaust which cost him just £350 ($415) giving the vocal cords of the GT86 a much-needed upgrade.
2015 Range Rover Vogue
MSRP: from £90,000 ($108,000)
The only SUV in Mat Armstrong’s car collection is his 2015 Range Rover Vogue. Like most of his other vehicles, Mat purchased this Range Rover after it was damaged in a crash and has been rebuilding it as part of a series of videos for his YouTube channel.
Mat told the Faster Living team that he bought the car to use as a tow vehicle to take his GT86 to drift events, but has already modified it by fitting a full SVO style facelift body kit giving the styling of the 2015 Range Rover a refresh.
2010 Mercedes C63 AMG
MSRP: from £63,000 ($75,000)
The next car in Mat’s car collection is his 2010 Mercedes C63 AMG Saloon. After buying the wrecked C63 as a non-runner early this year, Mat has managed to rebuild it and made it his own by fitting a full AMG Black Series body kit.
Mat has also stated that this was one of the most challenging builds yet due to the price of parts that were required to rebuild the luxurious German sports car. However, we’re sure that all the work will be worth it once Mat completes the build and gets to fully enjoy one of the most legendary AMGs ever built.
2002 Lamborghini Murcielago
MSRP: from £270,000 ($330,000)
One of the wildest cars in Mat Armstrong’s car collection is his Lamborghini Murcielago which was not running for over seven years. Mat purchased the vehicle from Everyman racing which had two non-running Murcielagos up for sale. He received the engine separately from the vehicle with the hopes of fixing it to its original condition as he usually does.
The car originally had a manual gearbox but came without a gearbox when Mat purchased it. The body panels of the car were intact which left Mat with the task of fixing the mechanical side of the car only.
1989 BMW E24 635CSI
MSRP: from £46,000 ($56,000)
Although most cars that Mat owns land in the supercar or sports car territory, Mat has recently acquired a classic 1989 BMW E24, as another project to restore to its original glory.
The car features a classic BMW silhouette and is one of the most recognisable classic BMWs around. Although the car is not crash-damaged, it has had a fair bit of neglect and was bought by Mat as a non-runner.
2017 Porsche 718 Cayman S
MSRP: from £51,000 ($62,000)
One of the newest additions to Mat Armstrong’s car collection is his 2017 718 Cayman S which was most likely involved in a rollover accident according to Mat’s first inspection.
At the time of purchase, this particular Porsche was the cheapest 718 Cayman S in the country and had a plethora of damage for Mat to fix. Mat has since restored to a Cayman GT4 look and painted it in orange with custom wheels and a flush fitment throughout.
Summary
For those counting, the total for Mat Armstrong’s car collection comes to around £100,000 ($1,200,000) if you purchased the vehicles new. However, it’s quite hard to estimate the current value of Mat’s collection due to a number of factors including their past history, modifications, and current market value, but it’s safe to assume that Mat has acquired this impressive collection for significantly less thanks to his mechanical savvy and knowledge developed throughout the years.
Mat Armstrong undoubtedly has one of the most unique car collections amongst the UK automotive YouTubers and it will be exciting to see what other cars will be joining his garage on his upcoming adventures. Want to follow along? Check out Mat Armstrong on Youtube and follow him on Instagram.
