Porsche has recently revealed the 911 Sport Classic. A retro-styled homage to the 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, based on the 992 generation Porsche 911 Turbo platform. The car is produced by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division and is limited to just 1,250 examples worldwide.
The exclusive 911 Sport Classic follows the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Edition – another homage model designed by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur team as part of a programme that will aim to produce one car to celebrate each decade of iconic Porsche design with the 911 Sport Classic focusing on the 1960s and early 1970s.

This particular limited-edition Porsche is powered by the 3.7-litre turbocharged flat-six engine found in the 992 Turbo, which is capable of 542bhp and 442lb-ft and will be produced as rear-wheel-drive only with the power being delivered by a seven-speed manual transmission – making it the most powerful manual 911 ever made.
When it comes to design, the Sport Classic features the legendary ducktail spoiler found on the classic Carrera RS 2.7. The car will also keep the classic widebody of the 992 Turbo while removing the rear air intake to create a slicker look. It also features a depression in the roof that pays homage to the Porsche motorsport heritage which is then emphasised by the painted tone-on-tone racing stripe.
The car also features the classic Porsche 1970s-style Fuchs 21 inch alloy wheels, with one very modern feature – a centre lock system. A 911 Turbo and 911 GTS-based suspension will be more than enough to provide the superior handling that Porshe is known for combined with features such as the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system and dynamic shock absorbers.
Another beautiful detail is the replacement of the modern Porsche badges throughout the car. The 911 Sport Classic features the classic Porsche badge found on the 1963 heritage models giving the car a truly unique look.
The interior is outfitted in two-tone leather with the classic Pepita pattern used on the door panels and seat centres, with semi-aniline leather upholstery in Black and Cognac providing a unique contrast to the exterior colour. The dashboard also features individually numbered badging signifying the number of each individual build.
Porsche has revealed that they will start taking orders for the new 911 Sport Classic starting in July 2022, with prices starting at around €270,000 (approx. $280,000) with deliveries commencing the same month.
