Ford has recently revealed their Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition ahead of the upcoming Chicago Auto Show where the car will be displayed alongside the 1966 Ford AM GT-1 prototype that it takes inspiration from.
This 2022 Ford GT celebrates Ford racing heritage by paying tribute to the 1966 Alan Mann prototype race cars. Alan Mann Racing was a British racing team that was responsible for most of Ford’s racing efforts in Europe in the 60s. The team was based in Surrey, England, and raced in legendary races including the Monte Carlo Rally and 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team is credited with pioneering lightweight material technology that lead Ford to eventually win Le Mans with the GT Mk II in 1966.
As well as wearing the unique Alan Mann livery consisting of the red exterior paint and gold graphics, the Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition also has dual racing stripes running across the roof of the car. Additional exterior details including the number 16 on the side are then finished in Ford’s Frozen White colourway.
Another prominent theme in this limited edition Ford GT is the use of exposed carbon fibre. This includes components such as the 20-inch wheels, front splitter, side sills, mirrors, engine louvres and rear diffuser. The wheels are then complemented by black Brembo brake callipers with red graphics and black wheel nuts.
The carbon fibre theme doesn’t end there. The interior is clad in a plethora of carbon fibre, including the door sills, console and registers. The carbon fibre seats are then wrapped in Ford’s Ebony Alcantara material and feature gold and red accent stitching including the GT Logo.
Ford stated that deliveries of this special GT will start this quarter, but have not released information on how many vehicles will be produced or the pricing of the limited edition models.
